In the beginning 
was an Urge, 
an urgency.

Then came a Surge
closely followed
by an Insurgency.

Divergency eventually
produced a Purge,
a radical Emergency.

Then a new Mourning
lit the Day.

Humans, encased in flesh,
ingrown heirs,
kissed their own lips
with renewed and frantic
frequency.

Unable to become Verge-ions,
they settled on attempting
Merge-inity.
