Morning Contemplation

Morning Contemplation
"that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice" (Romans 12:1)
While this verse arises within the Christian realm, it has universal application. It is similar to the saying "Die before you die." As you age, this begins to be more real, make more sense.
Another way to phrase it is "Do not put so much emphasis on what is not going to make it through the Veil." What is not going to make it? Each of us has to discover this for ourselves. For me, it means my body and all its desires and wants. Not just my physical body but also my social body.
"Be in the world, but not of the world" is another saying that comes to mind. For me, this is similar to the martial art of Aikido where you are fully present yet not taking it personally. This is a practice, Every moment is momentum.
My key practice these days (as it has been all my life though gaining greater momentum now) is letting go, living from spirit while fully embodying. A large portion of "me" is already on the other side. The part of me that is not, I cherish, laugh with it at its peculiarities, pick it up when it falls down, helping to ensure that it is a worthy sacrificial presentation.
