Spiritual means "of the Spirit." Spirit is the Life Force pervading and producing all. The entire boundless Cosmos is the continuous flow of the Life Force. The Spiritual Cosmos, the eternal flow of the Life Force, is composed of the Power That Is and the Powers That Be.  The Power That Is is Love. The Powers That Be are creations and manifestations of that Love.

For those who are turned off by capital letters (which simply imply an existence both beyond and inclusive of the sub-molecular and the meta-galactic and all in between), try this on.

What keeps us from opening to that Love? It is very simple. Two things. One is ignorance, understood most clearly as ignore-ance. We ignore it. Our attention is turned elsewhere. Simple. The other thing that keeps us from opening to the flow of the Life Force that is Love is our captivation by the twin forces of Fear and Anger. When we are afraid, we get angry. We are insecure and we want security. Anger arises. Ignore-ance, fear, and anger throw us out of love, out of Love, out of the Life Flow that continuously births us and all that is.

Who, me? you may ask. I am not ignorant nor fearful nor angry. There are real threats out there. Sure there are, composed of folk who are ignore-ant and fearful and angry. Make sure that you are not one of them. I will do the same.

This physical body is a placenta in the womb of this existence. It gives us nourishment. When we are born into the realm of Spirit, when we allow ourselves awareness that we are the Life Force, it is not so difficult to "die before we die," to "lay up our treasures in heaven" so that when the body drops, as it surely will, we do not cling to the afterbirth. The umbilical cord must be cut and we move on.

We open to the Power That Is. We recognize ourselves as one of the Powers That Be. To paraphrase Mister Rumi in his poem "The Tavern," the One who brought us here will always take us home. And home is where we are right now if we but allow ourselves to know it.
