the one essential thing

Mister Jesus had it right. When asked what was the one essential thing out of all things, he said to love God, our Source, with all our heart, all our mind, all our soul. 

This cuts right through all the holy books, all the philosophy books, all the science books, all the theology, all the political theory, all the mythopoetry to the core. Turn awareness to That Which Births Us And All That Is with full admiration, attention, and love. In energy eyes, we then become a sphere of Light which radiates in all directions.

Then he added a second thing which he said is like the first: love your neighbor as yourself. And who is our neighbor but all that exists, from the submolecular to the metagalactic? Not just that meat sack next door. 

That is why Jesus said the second essential thing is like the first. Our closest yet most distant neighbor is God.

The heart is our largest brain, the mind is our smaller brain, and the soul is that part of us which is fed, nourished, by the two brains and most especially by the love that pours forth.

Through following these two essentials, we transform ourselves. Not a bad deal at all.
