heaven and hell
One of the most profound books I have ever read is Swedenborg's "Heaven and Hell." Held in highest esteem by D. T. Suzuki, chief interpreter of Zen Buddhism to the Western world, and by Henry Corbin, translator and insightful commentator on the spiritual depths of Islam, Swedenborg is thoroughly Christian.

George,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. I know you have mentioned Corbin to me before but the mental apparatus doesn't always retain names too well.
The "triangulation" of a Swedish Christian (Swedenborg), a Japanese Buddhist (D.T. Suzuki), and a French Islamicist (Henry Corbin) in the description of Reality produces strong validity. When three different labs come up with the same results, well, hallelujah baby! And not just any old labs either, but three of the most profound visionaries that have existed on the planet. Plus! my own inner vision and sensing resonate strongly with their writings and mutual accord.
ReplyDeleteThanks George. I look forward to reading it!
