Seeing photos of my grandson having his high school graduation photos taken (a handsome dude) reminds me that I left my hometown high school at the end of the 11th grade and went to the big city for a full time job to help support my Mama and my brothers and sisters. I worked all day and went to high school at night -- a fascinating place with people of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. Bored with the school part of it, I did the homework (completion of workbooks) during the first two weeks of each class. Rode the Atlanta street trolley home each night to my great-aunt's house where I had a room. Not too bad a time, but I did not attend the graduation ceremony nor were there senior photos. I had the advantage of already being in the adult world.
