The Mechanisms of Consciousness

Awareness and Attention are the two mechanisms of Consciousness. Awareness expands and condenses.

Awareness expands outward in all directions as far and wide as the entire Cosmos. Awareness condenses to a razor laser focus of Attention.

Attention is like a flashlight shining and illuminating what one focuses on.

Awareness when condensing far enough comes out "the other side" - first with awareness of the interior of the physical body, then deepening into awareness of an inner infinity.

Awareness then opens to experiencing the inner infinity and the outer infinity as the same infinity. The subatomic and the metagalactic interflow.

This Awareness can be experienced while simultaneously Attending to what is in front of one's face. Awareness and Attention are the two mechanisms of Consciousness.

  1. "...an inner infinity..." Is where this post started to resonate most deeply in me. I stopped contemplating words and engaged in the sensations of attention and awareness. Practicing expanding and condensing, there is a point at which I expand no further. It is the point of the beginning. The Big Bang. The "Let there be light". The point where I don't know the other side. Condensing to the inner infinity appears to grant access to the other side, although what is between the two sides still strikes me as unknowable. Thank you for the great ride this morning.
