Reading the Bible

As I have said before, I cut my eye teeth on the Bible (I know as soon as I say that word, some of you will start frothing at the mouth). It is written at four levels of understanding which the Zohar states admirably: the clothes, the body, the soul, and the soul of the soul. When we look at a person and our eyes stop at the clothes, we form a different impression than when the eyes stop at the body, and even more different when we we see their soul, and even more so when we see the soul of their soul, if we are so lucky as to let our eyes soften from hard glare.
This is also true of the Talmud, the Qu"ran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedic Scriptures, and the Buddhist Sutras.
