Each human wears a thought helmet. Each thought helmet or conceptual system is composed of examined and unexamined beliefs ("facts") one learns partly from others and partly from one's experience.
When we remove the helmet, go out of our mind (the Buddhists call it rooftop chatter) through such practices as meditation, contemplation, mindfulness (or, for the fortunate, so-called "mystical" experiences -- which are not misty at all but awareness of great clarity), our consciousness opens into Awareness beyond all words of any language.
Thus we keep our ratio-nal mind for doing business as a member of society, THIS society with THESE beliefs, while opening to universal or cosmic consciousness (to use two adjectives that point but do not describe). Many, it seems, go through life in ratio (rational) or ordinal consciousness, never suspecting that supra-ordinal consciousness even exists.

George, this is a Bea-U-Ti-Full description of the difference in left (logic) brain processes vs. right brain conceptualization.
ReplyDeleteJill Bolte Taylor describes this well in her UTube video, "My stroke of insight". he has a stroke which cuts off circulation (temporarily) to the left side of her brain: no more chatter, no past or present, just Being. the rational has its place but not the whole show!
her insights, and yours, and Eck Tolle's have helped me to understand The Process (mystical but NOT misty)that's been happening daily for me for the past 3 years. peace, J
