evolution of consciousness

When any of us says something is true, we are saying we believe it (it is part of my belief system, therefore true). Some parts of our belief system are held true by most, hence a popular delusion that works for the moment and only within a certain context, i.e., the current worldview or generic thought domain. A future realm's thought domain might and probably will see our current world view as old-fashioned, ignore-ant, even primitive.

I don't know that there is anything to do about this, except to acknowledge it and look to step outside our belief system, our thought domain. Of course, for many this is unthinkable and will not be thought. For others, it is understood but seen as too much trouble to act upon; attention is best directed elsewhere. For some, however, the possibility / probability of existing outside thought, without reflection, is attractive and viewed as a worthy endeavor.

  1. Not only a worthy endeavor-- a change essential to our salvation.

  2. Everything is evolving, even human thought and ideologies. We are seeing how obstinate and entrenched bad ideas are that hurt people. Sooner or later though, reality will kill off bad ideas and thoughts.

We see past people as ignorant, but we have the advantage of hindsight. I always wondered how the Great Depression happened and why it lasted so long. Now I know. Bad policies and beliefs harm people and societies. Sometimes people are forced to do the wrong thing even though they know better because they are so ordered to do so and they don't want to lose their job. It's not the people at the bottom that are bad, but the people at the top running the institution as an extension of their egos.
