a time to hold on and a time to let go

We got all our touching of my Mom done (kissing her forehead, holding her hand, caressing her arm) while she was in the dying coma, then we stopped touching her. Some folk want to grab, touch, pull up and hug the dying person even and especially in the last phases of the dying coma. It's a selfish thing to do. The person is trying to die and that pulls them right back here. We sat there around her bed wishing her good wishes and Bon Voyage!

  1. I understand what you are saying, when I knew my mom was dying, I mostly sat w/her, talked to her and held her hand, I was frozen, unable to release her hand - only after she whispered her last breath was I able to let go...blessings!

  3. Ecclesiastes 3:1...or Pete Seeger's 'Turn Turn Turn'...as you've said: "a time to hold on and a time to let go". Life's wisdom in a nutshell. Another beautiful offering...thank you, George! ♥ Cathy

  4. You are so right. We do want to hold on--it is hard to let go of those we love so much, but dying is part of the process of living and we all have to let go. Love you, George.

  5. George, you always referred to your Mama with such love and joy in your voice. She surely knew she had all the love in the world. Best wishes to you and your family as you say goodbye.

  7. George, I'm so sorry for you loss, and happy for the love you shared with your Mom. Your comment reminded me of my Dad's passing. The whole family was hanging around his room trying to hold on. Finally the nurse convinced us to go home for a quick dinner. We did and while we were gone he decided it was time to pass. Trying to hang on is easy but letting go can be beautiful. Ron

  8. Hi George,

What a beautiful departure! She'll probably send you some postcards from the trip in the guise of day-to-day "reality". I am always touched by those messages when I open to receiving them; reminders that in the Source we are always together; that separation is an illusion.

Love to you and your beautiful heart, my friend.

Love to you and yours, wherever
